Huge Antique Black Painted Serpentine Sideboard Chest of Drawers

Very Rare & Beautiful carved Antique Arts and Crafts Scottish chest of drawers in good Antique condition. Really unusual decoration, with heavily carved vines each side and tulip style handles, each one a different design. The escutcheons, also wood are also all different. There was some extensive damage to the veneer each side so we have painted the sides and frame, which allowed us to make good the damage before painting. The combination of mahogany and black works really well and we are delighted that this can take pride of place in someone's home again. It really is a very large chest at over 5ft tall, so it would need a large room to carry it off, a Scottish castle would be good! 6 good sized drawers, all in good condition and open and close easily. Beading is all intact around the drawers which is very unusual. Drawers are lined with beautiful old paper which also is in good condition.

The chest is hand painted in Annie Sloan Athenian Black, a lovely deep shade of Black. It has then been distressed and rubbed with wax for greater durability.
